The UK Legalisation Office (part of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) will now be able to receive documents digitally and will issue electronic ‘e-Apostille’ certificates enabling a quicker, cheaper and more efficient service for thousands of people around the globe

Why should I get an e-Apostille?
No postage
There is no postage required - Saving costs and time on the standard service
Safe and secure
Any attempts to tamper with the document would invalidate the document, and bring up a warning that the document had been modified
Greater accessibility
Documents are uploaded when creating the application and are available to download immediately upon completion ready for onwards transmission

How does it work?

Your document must be digitally signed by a UK notary public or solicitor

The digital signature must be either an Advanced Electronic Signature (AES) or a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), and explicitly issued in their name. We do no accept Simple Electronic

We currently cannot accept certain documents for an e-Apostille. This includes birth/death/marriage certificates issued by the GRO, ACRO or DBS certificates, or fingerprint certificates
